The Sixth Extinction

The little brown bat is dying out, along with the amphibians. This sixth extinction proceeds at a glacial pace, as human beings spill over the face of the earth.

Painting as a Job

Painting for profit?  If a person is not a "driven" artist can they still be called an artist? I have wondered about this for years.  I have the skill, and find myself painting things that I know will sell, not so much to sell them, as to NOT have them cluttering up my space.  Occasionally I want to experiment but fearing it won't sell, do not allow myself to do it. :C

hurt

Tears press behind my eyeballs, threatening to spill, an ache starts,
the sweetness of that summer, the heat, the indoor coolness, the shadows around the TV,  the skylight over the kitchen sink admitting filtered light.  Drapes were drawn against the burning, searing sun. Awaiting the birth of my floppy cuddlebug son, now 23, tells me he never  felt safe, always felt threatened.  I just turn my head and look the other way. Tears press harder.  Nothing is more painful than the pain of one's children.

Driving from Buckner to Louisville

Rolling curds of soft grey moisture, ionized bumps.  One stray bolt lops off a jutting tree top.  Boom the ball rolls, pins jump.

Snake In The Wall

Trying to undo a clog in the plumbing the power snake flew off into the pipe somewhere, now I have a snake in my wall. :D

What makes these people think they are mighty hunters when they shoot unsuspecting brown bears that are just walking around in the spring? It sickens me.

Tanka

Fragile ghosts of past
Thoughts engulfed by loneliness
Endless tears slide down
Personal friends whisper go
Grayness embraces nothing
