For The Wilderness Art Challenge Blog

This is a moose from a photograph posted on the Wilderness Art Challenge Blogspot.  This is a relatively new Challenge Blog.  He says he is going to post wild life pictures.  That's great in my opinion.

I'm in Eugene, Oregon, where I'm freezing my butt off.  I wish I were back in sunny Alaska LOL.  But soon heading to California where I hope it is warmer.

For The Virtual PARTy

A racehorse for the Virtual pARTy blogspot, from a photograph by Kimberly Kelly Santini.

I did this on the ferry M/V Matanuska, traveling from Ketchikan, AK to Bellingham, Wa.  It is with pen and marker on the back of a calender that I cut up into sections.

Rooster

Just a little Rooster, done on the Ferry from Ketchikan to Bellingham, Washington.  I'm going down to Eugene, Oregon to visit with my sister, so I doodled while the ferry plied the waters.

The Old Man of The Sea From A Word A Day

"After Old Man of the Sea, the sea-god, who forced Sinbad to carry him on his shoulders and refused to dismount. In this story from The Arabian Nights, Sinbad the Sailor eventually released himself from his burden by getting the Old Man drunk."

I subscribe to

A.Word.A.Day

so everyday there is a new word in my e-mail. Today there was this picture and explanation.

Octosnag, or progress on my Snag

A snag is a tree that has died and starting to rot, but is still standing.  They are home to birds, small mammals, and many insects.  They have their place in the forest.  I love them, they are beautiful in my eyes.

For The Virtual Paintout Blogspot

The Virtual Paintout was in the Canary Islands this time.  It is really fun going around in the Google maps seeing other parts of the world :-).  I highly recommend it, it's almost as good as being there, almost hehe. I have a hard time with composition so this is very good for me.

The screenshot is to the left.

For Studio Atelier

The photograph this time is three little sparrows.  I chose one of them.  I started painting it, and found it was starting to look like a chick, not a sparrow, so I quit that one and started over.  The next one was a lot better.  Painting the same thing twice is beneficial.

Huckleberry Flower

This little Huckleberry Flower was growing next to the trail.  The whole bush was so beautiful in the sun, I just had to try and photograph it.  Now I have to try and place it in this blog.  If it works I want to shout out to Autumn Leaves!!!!!  The species is Vaccinium sp.  In SE Alaska we call them Blueberries or Huckleberries, nobody can quite decide which they are, so we hedge our bets.... we pick them, eat them fresh, or make pies and jam out of them.  They are not the same as cultivated blueberries, or the blueberries found in Europe.
