Waves Breaking

I went to the beach and tried my hand at En Plein Aire painting for a change.  This is what turned out.  It was windy but not raining.  Acrylic on cardboard.

The Wilderness Art Challenge Guy isn't going to post my Indian Paintbrush I guess, hmmm.

  1. Look at the movement of that water! Aren't you in Alaska, Charlotte? You went out in the cold to paint en plein aire??? Brave soul you are! Still, there is a sense of cold and hardness of the winter seas here. Well done!

  2. I love this - you've certainly captured the atmosphere - super vital brushwork! Small question - do you do en plein aire painting alone? I want to do this here but feel I would be a bit 'exposed'. Silly old me I suppose.

  3. Sherry - I'm in Alaska yes. It was a tad cold, but not raining for a change.

Anne - I feel completely ridiculous painting out in the air. I am alone, however I am making myself "get over it". I really don't think anyone even notices, it isn't crowded here. I don't think I could do it in a city if I weren't with a group.

Thanks to you both for the complements.

  4. Great choice of colors and painting. I was thinking of giving plein aire a try soon but can't decide on a location. Nice job.
